Donald Trump Arrives in UK for Unprecedented Repeat State Visit As Protests Gather in Windsor

Donald Trump has landed in the UK ahead of what marks his repeat state visit, an occasion described as unprecedented in modern political exchanges.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump touched down on Tuesday evening at Stansted Airport aboard Air Force One. The schedule features activities over the next two days, including meetings with King Charles, armed forces displays, and a potential aerial demonstration by the RAF aerobatic team alongside British and American F-35 fighter aircraft.

Protests Erupt Against Trump’s Policies and Statements

The visit has triggered backlash from multiple groups in the UK, with the anti-Trump alliance holding a protest in Windsor on Tuesday and planning a further rally in central London on Wednesday.

One prominent figure accused the US president of fanning the flames of polarizing, far-right politics around the globe in the past few years.

The critic stated that Trump’s deployment of the military in US cities and focus on of minorities resembled tactics straight out of the autocrat’s handbook.

The official emphasized that while preserving good relations with the US is practical, the UK should not hesitate to criticize a leader who promotes divisive policies.

Ceremonial Welcome and Demonstration Details

After landing, the presidential couple were greeted by US protocol officials and a British lord-in-waiting on behalf of the king. Yvette Cooper was one of those in attendance to meet the president.

The Trumps then boarded Marine One, the presidential helicopter, which departed shortly following their arrival. They were scheduled to proceed to Winfield House in Regent’s Park.

At the same time, approximately 70 protesters assembled outside Windsor Castle, carrying signs and chanting phrases such as “No to Trump” and “Donald Trump not welcome here”.

One participant commented, “We need to demonstrate that we do not support what is happening in the world right now.”

Another individual expressed dismay at the government’s decision to offer such a lavish welcome, calling it “repulsive” and asking whether Trump deserved such unprecedented treatment.

Royal Events and Military Displays

The royal couple are scheduled to greet the presidential pair with a formal reception at Windsor Castle, including artillery honors discharged at the same time in Windsor and at the Tower of London.

UK defense authorities confirmed that this would be the largest guard of honour ever presented during a state visit, with approximately 1,300 armed forces members and 120 horses taking part.

The occasion will also include a carriage procession toward the castle, accompanied by the household cavalry, and a Beating Retreat ceremony—the first time such an act has been performed for a state visit.

An elaborate state banquet includes performances by multiple ensembles, including the Duchess of Edinburgh’s String Orchestra and pipers from the Scots Guards.

Mixed Public Reaction and Upcoming Plans

Although a significant number demonstrated, a few showed support for the US president’s visit. One supporter remarked that Trump’s presence could help in brokering global stability and reinforcing international alliances.

Another local said that while not protesting, they felt the public dissent represented the opinions of the majority in the UK, stating that the state visit seemed designed to appease Trump rather than represent public sentiment.

Trump is scheduled to visit the official retreat of Keir Starmer on Thursday, with military aviators positioned along the route upon his arrival.
